Life at Naval Group
It goes without saying that life at the Naval Group Australia is never dull. With two Future Submarine Program offices – one located in Cherbourg, France, and the other in Adelaide, Australia – there’s endless possibilities for personal growth, adventure and propelling your career forward.
Adelaide is consistently ranked as one of the top ten most liveable cities in the world, and once you spend a day here, you’ll quickly discover why. Often described as European in feel, Adelaide has a bustling city centre surrounded by lush green parklands in every direction.
Travel for 20 minutes south or west from the city centre, and you’ll find long stretches of sandy beaches. Head 20 minutes in the opposite direction, and you’ll stumble upon the Adelaide Hills, a leafy region boasting quaint village vibes, cool-climate wines and impressive views of the sprawling city.
Drive northwest of the Adelaide CBD, and you’ll arrive in Port Adelaide, the home of Adelaide’s port as well as Osborne, where the Submarine Construction Yard will be located. Naval Group Australia is incredibly proud to be part of the Port Adelaide community, a place where innovation, discovery, culture and diversity is celebrated.

A port town with an impressive seafaring history, Cherbourg has a deep natural harbour backed by beautiful hillsides. Locals rave about the vibrant, local lifestyle, rich culture, and community spirit. The home of camembert, calvados, and cider, eating and drinking is taken very seriously in Cherbourg, with the city boasting over 25 Michelin single-star restaurants and three two-star restaurants. The submarine design office is in Cherbourg, which means many engineers migrate to Cherbourg to apply their trade. This means it's not just Australians who have moved here, and the social life reflects this.
Highlights of the calendar in Cherbourg include La Fête de la Musique, a festival that turns the whole city of Cherbourg into a music festival, from big stage performances to small family bands on the street corner; and Les Bouchées Cherbourgeoises, an annual weekend festival that celebrates the restaurants of Cherbourg.
